City’s first new Funeral Home in a generation opens

Peterborough, ON February 15, 2005 – Peterborough’s first new Funeral Home in a generation has been licensed by the Ontario Board of Funeral Services. Community Alternative Funeral & Cremation Services is owned and operated by the Cunningham family of Peterborough.  John Cunningham is the President and Managing Director.   He brings 20 years of experience as a funeral director, and his family has provided funeral services to the people of Ontario for four generations.

The newly renovated building is located in the heart of downtown Peterborough at 83 Hunter Street West and contains a modern, tastefully decorated visitation room and Chapel large enough to accommodate up to 30 people.  For larger gatherings, existing facilities in the community are used.  “It’s our wish to provide families in need with funeral services the way they used to be:  Personal, professional, and affordable.” says John.  “By providing traditional or alternative services in the comfort and familiarity of your place of worship or community centre, we are able to provide our services at an average of half the cost of what is currently available in the community.  This often translates into thousands of dollars saved”.
